Raised in Prince George's County, Maryland, DeQuana never envisioned her life as a recording artist. The culinary enthusiast had dreams of becoming a caterer and party planner, even attending multiple culinary schools to ensure it happened. But those dreams would get delayed by life and medical setbacks. The grueling disappointment of what appeared as unachievable dreams sent DeQuana into a state of rebellion. She channeled her frustrations into fuel to reject purpose leading to a life of anger, confusion, depression, and discontentment.
In April 2021, after months of being in her lowest state, DeQuana penned a song that would unknowingly save her life and become an anthem of truth to people worldwide. "Sweet Liberty" was independently released in September 2021 on her indie record label, Quantified Records, LLC, as the debuting single from her debut EP, The Year of Worship. "Sweet Liberty", described by listeners as a whimsical, musical-like arrangement, features the sounds of a cheerful orchestra that transport listeners to soul-stirring, inspiring lyrics that remind them of the truth of God's Word and what's accessible to them because of Jesus' loving sacrifice. "Sweet Liberty" recently made its impression on internet radio listeners, reaching stations like WNIA Gospel Radio's Top 20 and Synergy1Radio's Top 30 charts.
Her debut EP, The Year of Worship, is a five-track project that follows her journey to yes and ultimately living a life for God. It's her desire and now lifelong purpose to minister the Gospel of Truth, also known as the Gospel of Christ, through music and whatever medium God decides to use.
